Newtons First Law :An object at rest will stay at rest and a object in motion will stay in motion at the same speed and in the same direction unless acted upon by an unbalanced force.
In simpler terms, let's say you have a toy car and you set it down, nothing happens but if you push it, the car will move forward. This is the same for all objects, you must give force to make the object move, or if it is already moving, to stop the object. This also means that if something is moving, a force must be acting upon it.

This game uses the first law because the animals don't move unless an unbalanced force acts on them.
